It has never been a better time to learn new mediation and communication skills. Disputes are unfortunately increasing in the current situation due to failure to meet contractual obligations. The backlog is building up in the courts in the UK and internationally. There is now an inevitable uptake in mediation.

This course provides you with the skills to mediate a resolution satisfactory to all. Or if you prefer, you can simply use it as gaining an “insight into the mediator’s toolbox” if you are an adviser attending mediations with your clients (as many Heads of Litigation delegates over the years have said to me). Online mediation advocacy skills are going to become core to litigators and barristers as the courts go online.

I have trained hundreds of professionals from around the world to become mediators over the last few years and I am delighted to share these important skills over 4 days. The course will be delivered interactively online using breakout rooms, videos and interactive flip charts. There will be case studies and plenty of opportunities to practise the skills of a Mediator with detailed feedback from me.

The course will cover:

What is mediation?

How do you analyse the conflict?

Communication and negotiation skills – their use in mediation, business relationships and internally

Biases and psychological factors – awareness of self and others

Cross Cultural Awareness

Preparing for a mediation (setting up a mediation, client management, who will attend)

Risk/ benefit analysis relating to the conflict

Mediating effectively online

Who is it aimed at?

Solicitors, barristers, attorneys, in house counsel, judges, HR professionals, insolvency practitioners, anyone involved in conflict resolution.

All you need is a computer/ laptop or telephone, a microphone and a willingness to learn these new skills.
